[8] Most foam model airplanes do not need sealing as foam material is waterproof and does not absorb moisture under ordinary environment.
[9] If you are a big fan of combat RC aircrafts, most of these aircrafts can be built fairly quickly as all that typically needs to be done is to cut holes in the foam material for fitting in the control and radio parts, and then cover the wings with protective tape or a low-temperature heat shrink layer (e.g. Ultracote) and go fly within hours.
[10] Spare parts or extra components of foam model airplanes can be constructed rather economically with so many varieties of inexpensive foam materials available in the market.
[11] Model airplanes made of solid foam construction are almost crash-proof: normally tougher than the equivalent fiberglass, wooden or veneered foam model airplanes.
[12] A foam model airplane will likely to has a weight very similar to its balsa equivalent, but is tends to be made up of fewer pieces of varies components. In addition it bounces a lot better than balsa made models. |
